About the role
We are seeking a versatile mid-level software developer with five or more years of professional experience to join a defense-focused engineering team. This role emphasizes modern software design, API development, and DevSecOps practices. The position is a hybrid remote opportunity based in the College Park, MD area.
Responsibilities
- Build and enhance front-end user interfaces using React, including hooks, functional components, and state management libraries.
- Design, develop, and maintain back-end services.
- Implement responsive UI components and follow UI/UX best practices, integrating with design systems.
- Apply modern design patterns and UI frameworks.
- Develop, test, and deploy code in a Linux/WSL environment.
- Utilize containerized deployments with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Write automated UI tests to ensure code quality.
- Collaborate within an Agile environment and participate in code reviews.
Requirements
- Experience: A minimum of five years of professional software development experience is required.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in C++ and Java. Hands-on experience building UI components with React. Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining APIs. Working knowledge of Agile, CI/CD tools (like GitLab CI, Jenkins, Azure DevOps), Docker, and Kubernetes. Experience with automated testing tools. Practical experience with AWS services. Proficient in developing, building, and debugging applications within a Linux/WSL environment. Comfortable using IDEs such as VSCode, Eclipse, or NetBeans.
Qualifications
- Active DOD Secret Clearance.
- Experience with Cosmos or similar mission-planning and analysis tools.
- Experience with real-time or combat systems and their associated performance constraints.
- Knowledge of cyber-security principles.
