Engineer Senior Principal – Systems
About the Role
We are looking for a Systems Engineer to join our Engineering, Science and Analysis (ESA) Strategic Capabilities Unit at BAE Systems, Space & Mission Systems (SMS). In this role, you will manage skill development, execution processes, and cross-collaboration environments for systems engineers. You’ll lead high-impact internal projects and drive our competitive advantage by equipping engineers with essential and cutting-edge skills. Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the sector Chief Systems Engineer on systems engineering strategy and roadmap development.
- Coordinate and facilitate collaborative discussions and presentations with the systems engineering community.
- Oversee the development of guidance and training materials related to systems engineering skills, tools, and processes.
- Support the SMS implementation of INCOSE resources, systems engineering guidance, and certifications.
- Mentor other systems engineers assigned to the team.
- Prepare and give presentations to peers, management, and customers.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units, and the Company.
- Interact appropriately with others to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
Work Environment
- This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location.
- Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
- Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors, or remote research environment.
- May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
- May access other facilities in various weather conditions.
Requirements
- BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 8 or more years of related experience.
- Each higher-level degree (Master’s Degree or Ph.D.) may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education.
- Degree must be from a university, college, or school accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education or US Department of Education.
- Excellent presentation skills with experience presenting to senior decision-making and technical audiences.
- Demonstrated experience leading multi-disciplinary teams, including meeting schedule and performance goals.
- Understanding of the traditional systems engineering lifecycle, phases, processes, inputs/outputs, and artifacts.
- Demonstrated experience in systems engineering processes, including architecture development, behavior decomposition, requirements development and allocation, change management, verification, and validation.
- A self-starter who will own these activities.
A security clearance or access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position. However, the applicant must be willing and eligible for submission, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.
Pay
Full-Time Salary Range: $132,962 – $226,035. Individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications such as skills, education, and experience.
