We’re seeking a Systems Engineer with experience developing and executing space-based systems at the segment or mission level to be a technical leader on our programs.

The Engineering, Science and Analysis (ESA) Strategic Capabilities Unit comprises the technical talent and organizational leadership that enables the successful delivery of high-impact discriminating technologies for our customers’ missions. Responsibilities

  • Provide systems engineering leadership, technical guidance, and direction to technical teams from development through operational delivery of space systems.
  • Interface with and support the program management office and Chief Systems Engineer.
  • Support the development and execution of Concepts of Operations that support customer mission objectives and align with program technical solutions, identifying gaps and opportunities in the deployment process.
  • Drive the development and execution of design trade studies.
  • Own the technical risk and mitigation plans for the mission.
  • Lead and/or support program or engineering technical reviews, FRBs, Tiger Teams, and investigations as needed.
  • Mentor systems engineers assigned to the program and others in Mission Systems.
  • Prepare and give technical presentations to customers, management, and peers.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units, and the Company.
  • Interact appropriately with others to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

Work Environment

  • On-site work requiring regular in-person engagement five days each normally scheduled week at the primary work location.
  • Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
  • Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors, or remote research environment.
  • May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
  • May access other facilities in various weather conditions.

Requirements

  • BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 10 or more years of related experience. Each higher-level degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education or US Department of Education.
  • A current, active Top Secret security clearance is required with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI.
  • Extensive knowledge of missions and customers across core technology areas.
  • Knowledge/experience working with a critical customer base and established relationships with key personnel within the customer community.
  • Demonstrated experience leading multi-disciplinary teams in relevant business environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and analyzing mission concepts, including space, launch, and ground components.
  • Demonstrated experience in all phases of hardware program execution, including early planning, design reviews, manufacture, assembly, integration, test, sell-off, and on-orbit mission operation.
  • Demonstrated experience in systems engineering processes, including requirements development, concept of operations, requirement allocation, change management, verification, and validation.
  • Superb presentation skills with documented experience presenting to senior decision-making and technical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with space and ground system integration.
  • Experience with supplier, subcontractor, or other acquisition expertise.

Pay

Full-Time Salary Range: $149,603 – $254,317. Individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications such as skills, education, and experience.
