About the Role
Responsible for Quality Assurance activities at Valcor Engineering Corp., performing specialized, complex, and involved assignments of a Quality engineering nature. This includes ensuring products conform to all specifications and customer requirements, directing and overseeing activities associated with maintaining company certifications (e.g., AS9100D, ISO9001, NADCAP), configuration management, and quality assurance processes. Serves as the interface with customers and vendors on quality-related topics.
Responsibilities
- Perform root cause analysis (8D, 5 Whys) of identified issues and identify appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
- Participate in cross-functional teams to investigate and eliminate causes of quality problems; verify effectiveness of corrective actions (Corrective Action Board).
- Interface directly with customers to provide the best customer quality experience.
- Perform audits to assure compliance with regulatory, customer, and internal requirements.
- Review and assure compliance with customer blueprints, specifications, and other technical and quality system documents, including Purchase Orders.
- Work closely with Product and Manufacturing engineering, Manufacturing, and inspection personnel on procedural problems involving design, methods, tooling, costs, and other areas involved in control of product quality.
- Review raw material certification and approve raw material released for production as required.
- Oversee critical testing and inspection procedures; coordinate inspections with customers and inspectors; analyze and document results.
- Investigate customer complaints on product quality and work closely with customer representatives to resolve problems.
- Ensure the company’s products conform to all specifications and customer requirements.
- Become a Delegated Quality Representative (Ref. AS13001) for selected customers.
- Assure customer quality requirements are adequately defined to permit appropriate quality planning and implementation, and that these requirements are met.
- Facilitate the use of LEAN/Six Sigma and other quality tools for quality and process improvement.
- Prepare and review product data packages.
- Establish and provide written procedures for quality assurance activities related to manufactured products.
- Participate in review and disposition of nonconforming materials.
- Participate in customer audits and source inspections.
- Review product and documentation in accordance with applicable customer, regulatory, military, and industry specifications.
- Troubleshoot problems in-house and those reported by customers, including field returns.
- Review and approve component and final product First Article Inspections (FAIs).
- Support in-process product reviews.
- Oversee activities associated with maintaining company certifications and external agency approvals (e.g., AS9100D, ISO9001, NADCAP).
- Evaluate, develop, and maintain activities required to audit quality effectiveness, including planning and execution of procedure audits, quality-systems audits, and product audits.
Requirements
- 4-year technical degree or equivalent; Mechanical Engineering preferred.
- 4-8 years of experience in various phases of Quality Assurance or equivalent in Aerospace, Defense, or Nuclear Power generation environments.
- Must be mobile and capable of communicating with plant personnel at all levels.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to compose written reports and other communications.
- Superior analytical skills; capable of using current computer analysis tools (e.g., Microsoft Office and other applicable programs).
- Must meet the U.S. persons criteria.
