ENGINEER QUALITY 1

About the Role

The Quality Engineer oversees all quality-related activities to support manufactured products at DTTP, products procured from sister plants, and third-party vendors. This role is responsible for the continuous improvement of product quality and procedure adherence to ensure consistency. The Quality Engineer reviews quality standards, tolerances, and engineering changes, evaluates changes for existing and new products, and develops test plans and quality testing equipment.

Responsibilities

• Be the chief advocate for manufacturing operations and end customers, ensuring new products are launched at a higher quality level than current products.
• Track and communicate the current state of product launches and performance of launched products using established metrics.
• Drive a culture of continuous improvement and product quality through standards adherence.
• Oversee and drive Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) related to quality issues in coordination with Tech Services, Quality Control, Reliability, Warranty Analytics, and Supplier Quality.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams to address product design/standards, supplier issues, and internal manufacturing processes for products manufactured at DTTP and sister plants.
• Communicate internally regarding quality problems, including 8D problem descriptions, status, root cause analysis, and resolution timetables.
• Create and lead Development Quality Improvement and Warranty Monitoring reporting activities for all new product launches.
• Orchestrate New Product Launch efforts to minimize impact on manufacturing operations.
• Support production and ensure system adherence.
• Verify and validate product design, supplier, reliability, and component changes through engineering and reliability test processes.
• Coordinate with Design, Procurement, Supplier Quality Assurance, and Reliability Departments to ensure changes are fully qualified before implementation.
• Ensure the Quality Policy and Daikin Core Values are understood and used as a guide for decision-making within the department.
• Manage the Development Quality Department with clear expectations, fair work assignments, and high-performance team management.
• Perform additional projects or duties to support ongoing business needs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field.
• 2-3 years of experience in Quality Engineering.
• Good interpersonal skills and leadership qualities.
• Capable of managing multiple projects using the PDCA approach to deliver effective results.
• Six Sigma and/or Quality Engineering certification is a plus.
• Ability to convert data into actionable information using statistical methods (e.g., Minitab, Excel, Tableau).
• Strong problem-solving skills using DMAIC, Design of Experiment, 6 Sigma, FMEA, 8 Disciplines, and lean methods.
• Solid skills in engineering standards and drawing interpretation.
• Good communication skills, including presentation development and meeting facilitation.
• Ability to apply good judgment, strong work ethic, and integrity on the job.

Skills

• Data analysis tools (Minitab, Excel pivot tables, Tableau, MAPICS).
• Statistical methods for problem-solving and decision-making.
• Familiarity with quality improvement methodologies (DMAIC, 6 Sigma, FMEA, 8D, lean).
• Engineering standards and drawing interpretation.
