About the role
We are seeking a Materials and Welding Engineer with welding and quality control experience. The primary role will be welding and materials-related technical project support activities for LNG projects. Responsibilities include ensuring conformance to project specifications, corporate engineering standards, and Basis of Design (BOD) through delivery of scope. This is a contract position based in Houston, TX.
Responsibilities
- Support Calcasieu Pass (CP) and Plaquemines (PQ) LNG development—Engineering, construction, project, and eventual operations.
- Provide specialist materials engineering and welding support, including:
- HAZOP close-out
- Technical deviations
- Construction queries
- Operations support
- Manage internal interfaces with:
- Houston Engineering team
- Site construction team (CP and PQ)
- Houston and Site Project Team
- Operation Readiness Group
- Manage external interfaces with:
- EPC contractor’s materials/welding and mechanical teams
- Shop and site fabrication contractors for pressure equipment and piping
Requirements
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Familiarity with:
- Welding Management (AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX, API RP 582)
- Engineering Construction Codes (ASME Section VIII, ASME B 31.3 and B31.8)
- US Gulf Coast and Federal Regulatory standards (NFPA 59A, 49 CFR part 193)
Qualifications
- Degree-qualified engineer in Materials and Welding Engineering or related academic experience.
- Preferred: 5-7 years of experience in materials and welding engineering.
- Preferred: Previous LNG project experience.
