Engineer, Manufacturing Automation
Position Summary
The Manufacturing Engineer-Automation will identify, scope, and implement automation projects as well as partner with design, manufacturing engineering and cross-functional business team members to develop efficient solutions to advance manufacturing technologies.
Position Responsibilities
- Design and build of automated work cells including concept development, detailed mechanical and electrical design, component selection and control software programming
- Analyzes machining and assembly cycle times to provide continuous improvement to reduce cost, improve quality and on-time delivery
- Develops cost effective processes and procedures for the manufacture of parts and assemblies in conformance with established specifications and customer requirements in conjunction with production personnel
- Project management for deployment of complex automated systems; develops manufacturing cost estimates to support quoting activities; sourcing “of the shelf” automated solutions
- Develop and maintain clear and accurate documentation of automation equipment or processes including CAD drawings for cutting tools, jigs, and fixtures; standard work instructions
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment problems and perform complex system tests; deployment to the production floor and operator training on machine procedures
Knowledge And Experience
- Fundamental knowledge of control and electrical system design
- Thorough understanding of PLC control, including ladder logic, servo control, and robotics
- Thorough understanding of electro-mechanical measurement systems including distance, proximity, and thermal devices
- Thorough understanding of electro-mechanical actuators, including servo, pneumatic, and VFD
- Problem-solving and creative thinking – will be required to troubleshoot problems as they arise and find effective solutions
- Excellent mechanical aptitude
- Detail-oriented, mechanical knowledge
- Ability to communicate well to other members of the development team
Education and Certification
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering discipline or related field
Compensation Range for the Position
$67,078.00 - $85,524.50 - $103,971.00 USD Offer amount determined by experience and review of internal talent.
