About the role
Aecon Engineering Services Inc. (United) is seeking an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to join our team in Charlotte, NC. This position will work on modification packages and support multiple projects.
Responsibilities
- Prepare Engineering Change Packages including wiring diagrams, schematics, P&IDs, logic diagrams, instrument hookups, etc. for plant modification packages including digital upgrades
- Prepare specifications for control of plant process/auxiliary systems
- Prepare and review logic diagrams and system functional descriptions for implementation of system control logic into plant control systems
- Evaluate and specify pressure, temperature, flow, and level process instrumentation
- Perform engineering calculations for a nuclear plant such as instrument set-points, electrical loading changes, etc.
- Support multiple projects and coordinate activities with clients, contractors, vendors, and other members of the project teams
Requirements
- B.S. in Electrical, Mechanical, or Controls Engineering from an accredited 4-year university
- 5 years overall experience in design, operations or field service/support for power plants or heavy industrial facilities
- 3 years of experience relating to design of operating nuclear power plants in the U.S. Familiarity with nuclear standard design process
- Strong knowledge of engineering design and analysis, ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Familiarity with nuclear regulations and industry standards
- Experience leading a team of engineers and technicians and training/mentoring junior staff
- Good written and oral communication skills, able to interface with other members of the project team including other disciplines, client, contractors, and vendors
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Expertise using Microsoft Office products
- Ability to obtain unescorted access to nuclear plants and other facilities requiring background checks
- Field experience at an operating nuclear plant
