About the role

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is seeking an Engineer-In-Training II in Grant County to perform intermediately complex engineering work on projects with a larger scope of work.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews, analyzes and performs intermediately complex engineering to develop practical skills within the specialized area of planning, design, structures, bridge maintenance, and asphalt foundation to ensure compliance with all necessary guidelines.
  • Learns under the direct supervision of a Licensed Professional Engineer (LPE).
  • Develops plans.
  • Oversees portions of specific engineering related functional areas to analyze data and ensure conformance to approved plans and engineering standards.
  • May perform testing.
  • Reviews roadways construction plans for accuracy and interprets and recommends changes when necessary.
  • Evaluates state and federal highways and recommends maintenance activities as needed.
  • Prepares maintenance project costs estimates.
  • Affords assistance to construction inspectors and contractors on highway construction projects.
  • Affords assistance in finalizing construction and engineering work performed by technical and sub-professional personnel.
  • Compiles, prepares, reviews, and maintains reports.
  • Affords assistance to supervisor in completing maintenance activities and various office duties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • Must have 2 years of engineering experience as an Engineer-In-Training.

Pay

$4,699.50 - $5,401.34 Monthly
