Engineer III - Relay Settings & Systems Protection

About the Role

Design, specification, setting calculation, and coordination of protective relaying and relay control schemes. Perform modeling, short circuit and overstressed breaker studies, and provide protective relaying recommendations for proposed generation interconnections to a client’s electrical system. Ensure all relay settings activities, initiatives, and processes conform with company policies, objectives, and client design standards. Present technical solutions to key customers, address technical concerns in real time, and answer questions knowledgeably and articulately. Collaborate with internal groups to develop and implement technical solutions that support the Engineering Department’s objectives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) with a power systems focus; MS in Engineering may substitute for BS
• International engineering degrees considered
• Experience in protection and control engineering and relay settings
• Proficiency with ASPEN or CAPE
• Professional Engineering registration (or plan to obtain) is a plus
• Strong analytical and computer skills, including ability to identify necessary software for design work
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse support personnel
• Commitment to customer service and care
• Highly motivated self-starter with proven multitasking skills
• Excellent document management and organizational skills

Preferred Skills

• Familiarity with CYME software
• Experience with reclosers, sectionalizing schemes, and fuse coordination
