Engineer III - Overhead Transmission Line Design

About the role

Design and create construction drawings for overhead transmission design projects. This position may be based in Lake Mary/Orlando, FL, Palm Beach, FL, or Raleigh, NC.

Responsibilities

• Design overhead transmission lines in the 69 kV to 500 kV range.
• Prepare construction sketches for overhead network services (4 kV through 34 kV).
• Perform structural analysis and design, including foundation designs.
• Model transmission lines in PLS-CADD, determine right-of-way requirements, calculate conductor sags, and develop transmission line plan and profile drawings.
• Review vendor submittals.

Requirements

• BS Degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited school.
• 4–6 years of experience in overhead transmission design.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office, PLS-CADD, AutoCAD, MFAD, or similar tools.
• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment with high attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills and ability to discuss technical recommendations with customers.
• Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
• Valid driver’s license.

PE license is a plus.
