Basic Job Responsibilities
- Review and approval of supplier welding procedures
- Review and approval of weld repairs performed by suppliers
- Provide technical guidance and expertise with respect to construction support, problem resolution and corrective actions for welding performed by suppliers
- Support suppliers qualifying new welding procedures
- Evaluate the capabilities and capacity of prospective suppliers
- Maintain company standards, procedures, best practices, and process improvements in the field of welding
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree or higher in engineering
- 3-5 years of post graduate related engineering experience
- Prior experience in materials science or welding engineering preferred
- 3-5 years of engineering experience in aerospace, defense, heavy fabrication or shipbuilding applications
- The ability to read and understand component specifications, military specifications and engineering drawings
- Experience working with basic arc welding processes and an understanding of the fundamentals of welding metallurgy
- Experience with the development and qualification of weld procedures
Preferred Qualifications
- Three or more years of engineering experience in aerospace, defense, heavy fabrication or shipbuilding applications
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate with both a technical and nontechnical audience
- Highly motivated, able to prioritize work and support multiple projects at the same time
