Engineer II - Welding

Basic Job Responsibilities

  • Review and approval of supplier welding procedures
  • Review and approval of weld repairs performed by suppliers
  • Provide technical guidance and expertise with respect to construction support, problem resolution and corrective actions for welding performed by suppliers
  • Support suppliers qualifying new welding procedures
  • Evaluate the capabilities and capacity of prospective suppliers
  • Maintain company standards, procedures, best practices, and process improvements in the field of welding

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree or higher in engineering
  • 3-5 years of post graduate related engineering experience
  • Prior experience in materials science or welding engineering preferred
  • 3-5 years of engineering experience in aerospace, defense, heavy fabrication or shipbuilding applications
  • The ability to read and understand component specifications, military specifications and engineering drawings
  • Experience working with basic arc welding processes and an understanding of the fundamentals of welding metallurgy
  • Experience with the development and qualification of weld procedures

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three or more years of engineering experience in aerospace, defense, heavy fabrication or shipbuilding applications
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate with both a technical and nontechnical audience
  • Highly motivated, able to prioritize work and support multiple projects at the same time
