Engineer II, Systems Engineer (Onsite)
About the role
The Environmental Effects Engineering (EEE) organization at Collins Aerospace is seeking a talented and driven Systems Engineer to support the Nuclear Effects Survivability Team’s efforts. This role offers a unique opportunity to engage across the full product development lifecycle, including pursuit and order capture, requirements definition, system design, software and hardware development and integration, systems test and verification/validation, and deployment.
Responsibilities
- Develop concepts of operations, requirements, and define system interfaces.
- Career Development: Collaborate across disciplines to troubleshoot issues, analyze data, and implement effective solutions.
- Support missions: Travel as needed (up to 20%) to support mission execution at various locations including local RTX facilities, test sites, vendor facilities, and customer locations.
Requirements
- Ability to obtain a US DoD Top Secret Security Clearance.
- Minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field.
- Experience in developing and managing requirements of varying levels (system, sub-system, line replaceable units (LRUs)).
- Experience with generating technical documentation, such as test plans, procedures, or technical reports.
Qualifications
- Experience using digital engineering tools such as DOORS, JIRA, Subversion, or equivalent for requirements management, configuration control, or workflow tracking.
- Experience applying Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE) methods using SysML in design tools (Enterprise Architect, Rhapsody, Cameo, or equivalent).
- Experience with evaluating systems using simulated environments.
- Working knowledge of embedded (low-level) software development, application-level software development, and/or hardware development principles.
- Understanding of standard development processes, including waterfall and Agile methodologies, and the ability to apply them in an engineering environment.
- Experience interfacing with internal and external customers, including communicating requirements, presenting technical findings, or supporting design reviews.
- Experience working in an integration lab, test facility, or in the field, supporting integration and/or verification activities.
- Demonstrated ability to write and present technical material clearly and effectively.
- Ability to manage tasks and meet cost, schedule, and performance objectives with minimal oversight.
