Engineer II - Supplier Quality Management Engineering

About the role

Toyota’s Purchasing Supplier Development (PSD) Accessories, Logistics, and Planning Department seeks a passionate, highly motivated Engineer with a strong data analytics mindset and the ability to turn insights into sound business decisions. The primary responsibility is to lead the development of Accessory products, processes, and suppliers. The Engineer will deploy the PSD New Model Development Operational Procedure and apply rigorous analytical thinking to optimize design for manufacturability to achieve project milestones, supporting PSD’s objective to develop the outsourced supply base for best cost, quality, manufacturability, and operational self-reliance.

Responsibilities

• Utilize process engineering and Toyota Production System skills, through collaborative work with suppliers’ teams, to ensure design and implementation of optimal manufacturing processes.
• Execute and manage the PSD operating procedure for specific change part content over multiple programs.
• Develop, execute, and modify project strategies for critical parts based on risk ranking activities.
• Maintain and communicate responsible part status information for project KPI visualization internally and externally.
• Lead Supplier Partner teams in problem solving and consensus building to mitigate risks utilizing Toyota business practices.
• Develop project schedule to achieve set objectives and KPIs.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Engineering or similar technical field.
• 4+ years of equivalent professional experience in Automotive Manufacturing/Engineering.
• 2+ years of experience in Manufacturing, Quality, or Engineering (including applicable co-op experience) developing one or more of the following commodities/products:
  • Interior – Floor Protection Products, Trim, Garnish, Console Box
  • Exterior – Towing Products, Cargo Products, Vehicle Protection Products, Bumper, Rocker, Spoiler, Undercover, Outer Mirror
  • Electrical/Electronic – Lighting Products, ECU, Battery, Hybrid System
  • Chassis – Suspension, Brakes, Driveline
• 2+ years of experience in Manufacturing, Quality, or Engineering with one or more of the following processes:
  • Molding processes, Plastics joining, Complex Assembly, Paint or Coatings application
  • Electronics Soldering/SMT, Complex Assembly, Sewing, Wrapping, Wire harness assembly
