Engineer II - Roadway
About the role
RK&K is hiring Transportation Engineers in Lakeland or Tampa, Florida. These roles support our company's growth and involve designing and analyzing transportation facilities such as new roadways, widenings, resurfacings, and multimodal improvements.
Responsibilities
- Design and analyze horizontal and vertical alignments
- Create plan, profile, cross section, and detail sheets
- Develop temporary traffic control plans
- Calculate quantities and prepare construction cost estimates
- Support the preparation of design documentation
- Prepare specifications packages
- Collaborate with other disciplines to find creative solutions to design challenges
Requirements
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in roadway design
- Working knowledge of basic roadway design principles
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field
- Engineering Intern (E.I.) license in Florida or ability to obtain within six (6) months
- Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) design experience
- Open Roads Designer (ORD)/FDOT Connect experience preferred
Qualifications
- Four (4) plus years of experience in roadway design
- Preferred four (4) plus years of experience in roadway design
Skills
- Strong working knowledge of basic roadway design principles
- Ability to work collaboratively with other disciplines
- Experience with FDOT design and Open Roads Designer (ORD)
