Responsibilities
- Provide product design engineering expertise for cooking appliances.
- Meet customer expectations by developing the appropriate products and proving proper operation in a timely manner.
- Affirm effective engineering performance of projects and assignments.
- Create requirement engineering specifications for parts and systems.
- Support product quality and safety during development and sustaining engineering of products.
- Work closely with the lab for testing of appliances, parts, and assemblies.
- Create and implement work and test procedures to ensure efficient and effective use of resources.
- Present and discuss test results to find solutions to problems.
- Implement new and changed parts into production, prepare Engineering Change Requests (CR).
- Develop and maintain Bill of Materials (BOM).
- Work with others in projects/design reviews.
- Prepare for worst case studies.
- Release newly developed or changed parts or appliances after testing.
- Support assembly line in Pre-Pilot, Pilot, initial Production and continuing into Production.
- Handle multiple projects with different scopes and requirements simultaneously.
- Plan and prepare for sub-projects and project-related tasks in accordance with BSH PDP and deadlines.
- Conduct competitor analysis/benchmarking, target costing.
- Recognize critical parts and processes, generate and analyze tolerance studies.
- Oversee development and design solutions of other engineers within working groups and design projects.
- Follow timelines, task and requirement engineering fulfillment.
- Perform work with a high degree of latitude.
Requirements
- Four-Year College Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical) – Required
- Master’s degree – Preferred
- 5-7 Years Product Development Experience in Home Appliance Industry – Required
- 3-5 Years BSH company experience – Preferred
- Proven track record of Product Development experience in high-end, complex, consumer-based products.
- 3D CAD experience, preferably ‘NX’ (‘Unigraphics’)
- PLM/PDM knowledge, TeamCenter is preferable
- Solid knowledge of FMEA, DFMA, DfR, target costing, risk management and other engineering tools.
- Strong communication, presentation and persuasion skills
- Understanding and interpretation of standards and norms
- Closer attention to detail
- Quick learner and self-starter, good analytical skills using the specific engineering tools.
- Dependable with the ability to work with little supervision and as part of a working team.
- Exhibits appropriate professional behavior including positive attitude, sense of urgency, independent judgment, teamwork, creative thinking and personal integrity to achieve department/corporate goals and objectives.
