Engineer II, Mechanical Systems Design
Schneider Electric’s Power Systems Division North America Operations is seeking a passionate and motivated Engineer II, Mechanical (formerly Senior Mechanical Engineer) to support the design of medium voltage electrical power distribution equipment at our Mt. Juliet, TN facility.
About the role
The Project Engineering Team is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer / Staff Designer to support the design of medium voltage electrical power distribution equipment based on customer plans and specifications. These products distribute utility and generator power to industrial, water/wastewater, and data center environments. The role involves designing enclosures and assemblies, implementing designs, and supporting product introduction at manufacturing facilities.
Responsibilities
- Review and interpret technical specifications and drawings
- Create 3D models and 2D drawings for custom busbar, barriers, and sheet metal parts
- Modify high-complexity 2D and/or 3D parts and assemblies for custom orders
- Develop and maintain bills of materials to meet custom applications
- Design sheet metal, bus, and related mechanical parts and assemblies, including material selection and fabrication process understanding
- Predict finished part dimensions after forming
- Understand the application and mechanical properties of materials used
- Collaborate with Design Engineering and Technical Antenna teams to ensure compliance and design intent
- Coordinate with production and support functions to resolve design challenges promptly
- Participate in business transformation projects to improve productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with 2–4 years of related experience (for Engineer II role) or technical degree in a related field with 4–6 years of mechanical design experience (for Staff Mechanical Designer role)
- Proficiency with 3D modeling software (Creo preferred)
- US citizenship or legal right to work in the US without sponsorship
- Ability to thrive in a mixed office and manufacturing environment
- Experience with medium voltage switchgear or mechanical design of electrical power distribution equipment

Pay
For this U.S.-based position, the expected pay range is USD 86,400 – USD 129,600 per year, including base pay and short-term incentives. Individual pay is determined by performance, knowledge, skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
