Engineer I - Water Resources

About the role

RK&K is hiring an Engineer to join their Water Resources team in Nashville, TN. This position offers opportunities to work on multiple DOT and municipal projects, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Deliver world-class solutions to existing water resources projects
• Proactively manage water resource projects according to scope, schedule, and budget
• Provide excellent client service with a focus on quality and timeliness
• Grow experience to execute and lead tasks
• Support office and site visits for assigned and prospective projects
• Aid in the development of civil engineering plans and deliverables using Autodesk Civil3D, MicroStation/ORD, GeoPak, and GIS
• Perform modeling of riverine systems and watersheds/storm sewer networks
• Prepare clear and concise drainage reports and hydraulic memoranda
• Assist with field work in support of various water resources projects

Requirements

• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or related engineering
• Zero to two years of experience in water resources engineering
• Knowledge of hydrologic and hydraulic computational methodologies and analysis tools
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Software
• Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively and independently
• Attention to detail and focus on quality

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Experience with CAD, MicroStation/ORD, ArcPro, and other ESRI software
• Floodplain analysis using HEC-RAS (1D) software
• Hydrologic analysis using HEC-HMS software
• Project experience related to hydraulic analysis of riverine systems and culvert/bridge stream crossings
• Two-dimensional stream system modeling and analysis using HEC-RAS 2D or SMS with SRH-2D software packages
• Watershed/Drainage Basin modeling and analysis using EPA SWMM or PCSWMM software packages
• Engineer in Training (EIT) certification
