Engineer I - Transmission Planning
About the role
Puget Sound Energy is seeking an Engineer I - Transmission Planning to join our Transmission team. The position involves supporting Transmission Strategy and Planning functions, including transmission planning, studies, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Perform transmission system impact studies and develop network upgrades.
- Review customer applications and attend customer scoping meetings.
- Develop transmission system models and complete complex power system modeling and analysis.
- Analyze generation interconnection and transmission service requests.
- Interpret codes, standards, and guidelines for system needs.
- Document study results and negotiate inter-utility agreements.
- Ensure compliance with PSE’s OATT and represent PSE in external committees.
- Support emergency response operations and coordinate with internal teams.
- Provide technical support and document work for the engineering workforce.
- Engage in cross-departmental workgroups and participate in external committees.
- Coordinate with contractors and consultants as needed.
Requirements
- ABET accredited, or completed NCEES Credentials evaluated, Bachelor of Science degree in electrical, mechanical, civil or other appropriate engineering discipline.
- Entry level to three (3) years of experience in engineering design, preparation of specifications, technical field work, or system studies.
- Possession of or ability to acquire an EIT certificate.
- Knowledge of engineering economics and analysis.
- Experience in project cost estimating or scheduling.
Qualifications
- Minimum qualifications: Entry level to three (3) years of experience in engineering design, preparation of specifications, technical field work, or system studies.
- Desired qualifications: Possession of or ability to acquire an EIT certificate, knowledge of engineering economics and analysis, experience in project cost estimating or scheduling, work or internship experience in utility engineering or related fields.
Benefits
The pay range for this position is $80,200.00 - $115,800.00, and this position is eligible for annual goals based incentive bonuses.
