Engineer I, Test
About the role
The Power Tool Accessories group is seeking a hands-on, creative, and self-motivated engineering professional to join the Product Development Team. This role combines engineering and project management responsibilities to support the design and development of new cutting tool products, upgrades to existing products, and qualification of new suppliers for key sourced finished goods and raw materials.
Responsibilities
- Lead activities related to qualifying new suppliers for key sourced finished goods and raw materials.
- Cook incoming samples and manage testing schedules, testing requirements, communicate status updates, testing results, and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Conduct supplier and product evaluations, including lab sample analysis, hands-on assessments, post-test analysis, and technical reporting.
- Perform sampling, product testing and documentation including the writing of product performance specifications and test plans.
- Serve as the liaison between Global Supply Chain, local SMEs, and laboratory teams. Prepare and communicate technical findings, recommendations, and supporting documentation related to testing and product development.
- Develop new testing equipment and procedures as needed to evaluate product and develop root cause analysis for test output when required.
- Support product design and development efforts and implement upgrades to existing products using practical, manufacturable technologies to meet business objectives.
- Create working models of new product concepts using 3D CAD software and subsequently build physical prototypes to support product development.
- Create 2D drawings, generate new and revise Bills of materials as well as maintain engineering documentation.
- Set up and support end user circuits to collect data and feedback from end users, customers, sales and service teams.
Requirements
- 1+ years directly related experience can include directly relevant internship experience.
- Highly detail oriented, with excellent analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with measurement devices, metallurgical and metrological.
- Hands-on approach with the ability to evaluate products, materials, and samples directly.
- CAD (Computer Aided Design) experience (Catia preferred).
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
- Experience: 1+ years directly related experience can include directly relevant internship experience.
