About the role

As a part-time Software Engineer, you will develop and support software tools that enhance production and testing efficiency within the Cabinets and Power Division. This role supports operational excellence by identifying opportunities to automate processes, improve test workflows, and enhance data visibility. You will work closely with Engineering, Operations, and Quality teams to understand real-world challenges and deliver practical software solutions. This position is based in Richardson, Texas.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and enhance internal software tools used to improve production efficiency and product testing processes.
• Support automation of manual or repetitive tasks to improve accuracy, throughput, and reliability.
• Analyze production and testing workflows to identify inefficiencies or failure points.
• Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Test teams to gather requirements and translate them into functional software solutions.
• Work with SQL databases to support data collection, querying, analysis, and reporting related to production and test activities.
• Assist with tools that integrate software applications with test systems or manufacturing environments.

Requirements

• Be pursuing a degree in computer science or related technical field.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Project management skills required to manage project timelines and meet deliverables.
• SQL database experience (writing queries, working with relational databases).
• Experience with one or more programming languages (e.g., C++, Java, C#.NET).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in Visual Studio, Linux, or any AI/Machine learning.
• Curious and motivated to learn new technologies.
• Creative in problem-solving with the ability to work independently, think critically, and drive projects forward.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to make informed decisions.
