Role Responsibilities
- Conduct assessments for site classification, turbine suitability, and lifetime for RWE North American onshore wind projects
- Cook up with internal and external stakeholders to gather necessary inputs for site suitability studies
- Support the preparation of site suitability input packages for technical assessments performed by turbine vendors
- Aid in the evaluation and review of load studies provided by turbine vendors
- Show an understanding of the importance of equipment procurement relationships and support the initial screening and selection of wind turbines appropriate for site specific wind conditions
- Participate in site visits and assist in documenting site-specific observations relevant to turbine suitability
- Perform terrain and measurement sector assessments for wind turbine power performance tests, and review 3rd party testing entity reports and conclusions
- Support coordination and provision of the necessary inputs to 3rd parties performing acoustics and shadow flicker assessments
- Aid in the coordination and review of post-construction noise compliance measurements and related assessments
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of internal standards, tools, and process templates
Job Requirements and Experiences
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline (or comparable)
- Foundational knowledge of assessment principles, preferably for wind farm studies, and one (1) year of relevant professional experience
- Experience in working within an international project development organization is preferred
- Team-oriented with good communication skills and the ability to meet deadlines
- Self-motivated and eager to learn, with solid problem-solving abilities and a collaborative approach to achieving team goals
- Effective communicator with the ability to build positive working relationships across diverse teams.
- Detail-oriented with a foundational understanding of business concepts and an interest in developing business acumen
- Friendly with written and spoken English
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle confidential information appropriately
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams
- Foundational knowledge of wind yield assessment, wind turbine concepts, wind turbine loads, and familiarity with tools such as WAsP, WindPRO, Windographer, and CFD software is desirable.
- Familiarity with acoustic analysis tools (WindPRO, CadnaA, Soundplan, or similar) is beneficial.
- Basic programming skills (e.g., Python) are desirable
- Basic knowledge of international rules and regulations applicable to wind turbines, such as the IEC61400 series, DNV GL standards, etc., is desirable
- Willingness to travel based on tasks, both nationally and internationally (expected travel time in general
- Basic knowledge of ISO standards related to sound propagation and noise measurements is beneficial
Work Environment
- This position is an office-based role with some travel and visits to other RWE Americas offices and field locations
- The employee must be able to sit, walk, or stand for long durations of time
