About the role
Reporting directly to an assigned Supervising Engineer or Senior Engineer. Performs transportation, drainage, and land development engineering projects.
Responsibilities
- Performs planning, engineering analysis and design for transportation, drainage, and land development projects
- Prepares transportation engineering plans, specifications & estimates (PS&E)
- Analyzes and prepares floodplain and detention studies
- Prepares technical correspondence to professional consultants, other governmental entities, and the public
- Reviews Floodplain Development Permits, including interpreting flood studies and determining site-specific flood elevations
- Responds to drainage/floodplain complaints and coordinates with public to develop feasible solutions utilizing site visits, hydrologic and hydraulic analysis and investigations
- Captures and prepares documents and updates for engineering meetings and public hearings
- Analyzes subdivision plats, construction plans and permits
- Performs pavement field evaluations
- Identifies potential floodplain violations and collaborates with inspections on resolution
- Attends all meetings and trainings, as required
- Performs special duties as assigned
Requirements
- Required P.E. (Professional Engineer) Licensure within Thirty (30) Days Of Employment
- Valid Texas driver’s license within Six (6) Months Of Employment
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- Two (2) years of roadway geometric and drainage design experience
- Two (2) years of FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) Floodplain Development experience including 3D flood modeling experience
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and engineering development systems and software

- Required P.E. (Professional Engineer) Licensure
