About the Role

This position plans and directs activities concerning quality improvement, quality systems development, application, and maintenance of quality standards for fuel injector manufacturing processes, materials, and products. The role involves completing root cause analysis of internal production rejects and customer trouble reports to ensure thorough investigations, true root cause identification, and control of all major and minor change points in the customers’ best interests. This is a fully on-site role supporting manufacturing processes at our Greenfield plant.

Responsibilities

  • Support Production with Process Efficiency, including Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ): 20%
  • Address Customer Requests and Concerns: 20%
  • Create New Product and Line Startup Documentation: 10%
  • Troubleshoot and implement Corrective/Preventive Measures (C/M): 15%
  • Audit Processes and Documentation: 15%
  • Prepare Presentations for all Levels of Management: 5%
  • Document Data for IPPAARs and Manufacturing/Process Change Points: 5%
  • Travel to Customers, Vendors, and Parent Companies: 5%
  • Confirm Product Characteristics and Measurement Techniques: 5%
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including supporting production in emergency situations (e.g., equipment downtime) and brainstorming alternative quality verifications.

Requirements

  • 4-year College Degree in Mechanical or other Engineering, or Engineering Technology.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in injection molding, machining, automated, and/or short-cycle time assembly processes.
  • Knowledge of computer systems and spreadsheets to perform job duties.

Software

  • Basic experience with Microsoft Windows.
  • Intermediate experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Basic experience with Minitab preferred.
  • Advanced experience with Excel preferred.

Physical and Mental Requirements

  • Ability to work for long periods while sitting.
  • Standing, walking, and bending for the duration of the workday.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Visual ability to work accurately with detailed information and a computer screen.
  • Full motor skills are required.
  • Exempt position under applicable wage-and-hour laws; expected to exercise independent judgment and work the time required to meet job responsibilities, which may exceed 40 hours per week.

Work Environment

  • Requires up to 5% travel.
  • Manufacturing floor settings with common noise levels.
  • Office workspace is provided.

Equipment Used

  • Personal computer/laptop.
  • Hand measurement gauges and equipment.
