Engineer I, Controls
About the role
The Controls Engineer I role is located in Pennsauken, NJ and involves designing and implementing servo motion controllers, automation systems, and other critical components for Glebar and Tridex precision machinery. The role includes responsibilities such as PLC design and programming, HMI design and development, customer collaboration, cross-functional teamwork, testing and debugging, and project coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Create electrical and electromechanical systems, including servo motors, motion controls, and high-precision feedback devices for Glebar and Tridex precision machinery.
- Analyze designs for functionality, cost-effectiveness, and production readiness, estimating cost, reliability, and safety factors.
- Work directly with clients to define requirements and develop solutions tailored to their needs.
- Partner with engineers and stakeholders to implement machine design changes.
- Build, test, and modify product prototypes, isolating and resolving defects to ensure peak performance.
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate assigned engineering work and projects, controlling process efficiency throughout.
What We're Looking For
- Required: PLC design and programming proficiency, Mitsubishi Ladder Programming (FX3/FX5) or equivalent experience with Beckhoff, Fanuc, Siemens, or Allen Bradley systems, HMI design and development experience, strong skills in automation and robot programming.
- A Plus: Industrial robotics and process controls familiarity, .NET C or C# programming knowledge, vision systems integration experience, machine tool design familiarity, Autodesk Inventor, Inventor Vault, SolidWorks, and/or Epicor experience, previous engineering project management experience.
Qualifications
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer, or Controls Engineering is preferred. However, candidates with a degree in a related field or equivalent hands-on experience in controls and automation will also be considered. Verification of education may be requested; candidates should be prepared to provide a degree or transcripts.
- Experience: 1+ years of hands-on experience in product design and development within an automated manufacturing environment.
Physical Requirements
