Engineer, Electrical Planning and Design

About the role

Lead Engineer (Electrical Planning and Design) in Electric Transmission Engineering, focusing on high-voltage system projects.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineer transmission lines, including new constructions, refurbishments, and reconductoring projects.
• Specify, order, and coordinate material procurement; review vendor calculations and drawings.
• Support environmental and permitting processes, prepare project specifications, procedures, and technical documents.
• Collaborate with project teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and budget.
• Build relationships with stakeholders to facilitate information sharing and project success.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced engineers.
• Investigate and incorporate new technologies and innovative solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
• Minimum of 7 years of professional engineering experience, preferably in transmission engineering.
• Registered Professional Engineer license and/or advanced degree preferred.
• Experience with transmission design software such as PLS CADD, PLS POLE, and MFAD.
• Strong knowledge of industry standards, safety regulations, and design codes, especially NESC.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite; excellent communication skills.
• Knowledge of structural analysis, steel and wood pole design, electrical clearance, soil mechanics, and foundation design.
