About the role
Manage construction activities related to the development of multiple, simultaneous network infrastructure projects, including the RFQ/RFP process, contract process, sealed bids, bid-package distribution, bid-walk coordination, project award, progress monitoring, status updates, and issue resolution.
Provide financial management of projects from initial proposal/bid through receipt of the final product or service. Demonstrate professionalism by responding promptly to emails, actively participating in meetings, clearly explaining issues, providing updates, maintaining records, collaborating across departments, and understanding the business impact of your work.
Establish quality-assurance methods, procedures, standards, and technical training related to site design and construction. Evaluate new products, services, and vendors, weighing pros and cons such as system impact, costs, compatibility, ease of use, reliability, and timing parameters.
Interface with internal and external departments and regulatory agencies to secure building permits, construction inspections, and certificates of occupancy for network facilities.
Responsibilities
- Manage construction from initial site-design visit through completed drawings, including drawing review for civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical feasibility and value engineering.
- Oversee multiple, simultaneous network-infrastructure projects: contract process, bid-package distribution, bid-walk coordination, progress monitoring, status updates, and issue resolution.
- Provide financial oversight from initial proposal/bid through final delivery.
- Lead and mentor team members, fostering individual and team growth.
- Collaborate with partners to establish project designs, scope, deliverables, and timelines.
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules; actively manage scheduled tasks with outside vendors, including major milestones, action items, long-lead purchases, and timeline-critical commitments.
- Analyze schedule changes, assess implications, and take corrective actions to keep projects on track.
- Provide regular project-status reports to management and the project team.
- Coordinate and lead all aspects of RFQ issuance and response evaluation based on purchasing requirements; deliver detailed analysis and vendor recommendations.
- Request and manage budgetary funding and purchase orders for projects.
- Lead new or large program deployments, onboard new vendors, and guide junior engineers.
- Serve as a Subject-Matter Expert (SME) in construction, modification, or equipment configurations.
Requirements
- 5–10 years of relevant experience.
- 3–7 years of wireless-network management experience, preferably as a Project Coordinator or Project Manager with construction knowledge.
- Technical aptitude with computers and construction-management tools.
- Attention to detail and a strong sense of urgency.
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups and manage multiple, often conflicting, priorities to successful completion.
Skills
Must-have
- Knowledge of Ericsson/Nokia equipment, DC-plant design, and general construction practices.
- Fiber-installation standards and experience.
- Telecommunications, data-networking, or wireless-industry background.
- Experience with Verizon Fuze and other internal Verizon systems and tools.
- Cellular design and construction expertise, including macro- and small-cell builds.
Desired
- Solid understanding of telecom networking, network technologies, equipment designs, configuration procedures, and inventory management.
- Strong technical and project-management skills.
- Proficiency with Windows, Google Suite, and related software applications.
- Highly organized with excellent verbal and written communication skills for inter-organizational communications.
