Responsibilities
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop, test, implement, and maintain protection and control (P&C) system standards, including philosophy documents, relay setting guides, templates, drawings, and test procedures.
- Research industry best practices and emerging technologies to support continuous improvement of established P&C standards.
- Perform engineering analyses, evaluate new hardware and software solutions, and support the deployment of protection system upgrade initiatives.
- Support PRSI department efforts by implementing new strategies, initiatives, and processes to enhance the design, operation, and reliability of P&C systems.
- Provide technical support to other PRSI functions, including protection system asset management and remote monitoring and analytics of substation P&C devices.
- Oversee vendor activities and perform technical reviews to ensure contractor work meets engineering standards and departmental requirements.
- Maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders to implement relay protection standards, obtain feedback, and manage expectations.
Qualifications
- Required Education/Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering and 3 years of engineering work experience. A minimum of two years of relevant experience in relay protection and/or control systems engineering disciplines, required.
- or Preferred Education/Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering and 4 years of engineering work experience. A minimum of two years of relevant experience in relay protection and/or control systems engineering disciplines, required.
- Relevant Work Experience: A minimum of two years of relevant experience in relay protection and/or control systems engineering disciplines, required.
- Computer proficiency: To include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), required.
- Proficiency in using PSS/E CAPE, Aspen or equivalent fault study analysis tools, required.
- Experience with various microprocessor relay platforms and software, required.
- Ability to write engineering specifications and standards, preferred.
