Engineer, Automation Software Development
Role Summary
Member of a cross-functional software engineering team that provides Corning R&D labs and/or pilot operations with applications that interface and automate lab equipment to run metrology and measurement processes and collect data for the technical community at Sullivan Park campus. This role offers the opportunity to learn and grow under the mentorship of experienced engineers while contributing to meaningful R&D software solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute as a member of an engineering project team focused on delivering cost-effective software solutions and services to Corning's R&D facilities.
- Collaborate with project team members to solve software-related problems and build understanding of process design and interface requirements.
- Aid in defining and documenting software design specifications, developing design concepts, and contributing engineering recommendations under the guidance of senior team members.
- Support the creation of new software capabilities that align with Corning's software development standards.
- Provide regular updates on assigned tasks, progress, and issues to the project team and lead.
Required Qualifications
- BS in Software Design, Software Development, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a similar program.
- Recent graduates and candidates with 0–2 years of experience are encouraged to apply.
- Exposure to or coursework in some of the following: C#, C/C++, Python, Vue, HTML, JavaScript, Oracle PL/SQL.
- Familiarity with software development best practices.
- Strong communication and listening skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Positive, professional attitude and respect for others.
Desired Skills
- User interface application development experience (academic, internship, or professional projects welcome).
- Experience with version control (e.g., Git) or Agile development practices.
Pay and Benefits
The range for this position is $73,782.00 - $101,451.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
