Requirements

  • Must be able to work in various weather climates
  • Must have the ability to stoop, kneel or bend
  • Must be able to lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs
  • Must be able to differentiate between colors
  • Must be able to work weekends and holidays as required
  • Must be able to work heights in excess of 15 feet
  • Experience in drywall repairs, texture, and finishing
  • Previous experience in the hotel/service industry is an asset
  • A minimum of 2 years of building maintenance experience is required, with hotel experience preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of all major building systems, including life-safety systems
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics
  • Good communication skills
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Willingness to work different shifts as the demands of business dictate
  • Proficiency with a Windows-based computer system

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and paint surfaces of the building structure, furniture, and equipment using proper application techniques, various products, and visual ability to identify colors and patterns
  • Measure lengths and quantities and assess areas for repair
  • Plaster or spackle surfaces
  • Mix paint colors to match existing colors and apply paint to all building and equipment surfaces with brushes and rollers
  • Install and repair covered wall and ceiling surfaces throughout the facility
  • Hang vinyl wall coverings of various weights
  • Maintain and repair caulked, grouted, and masonry surfaces throughout the facility, which requires caulking, grouting, plastering, and setting tiles, cinder block/brick, and cement work
  • Prepare and maintain wood surfaces requiring staining, varnishing, and lacquering appropriate products to water stains and imperfections to develop a finished product from unstained wood or existing finished wood
  • Assist with the oversight of the operation of the hotel, consisting of 451 rooms and 30,000 sq. ft. of meeting space
  • Troubleshoot maintenance issues in guest rooms, meeting space, front-of-the-house areas, and back-of-house areas including kitchen, laundry, electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems
  • Perform other job duties as assigned
