About the role
The Engineer is responsible for maintaining the hotel's physical property, equipment, and building systems to ensure a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for guests and associates.
Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on guest rooms, public areas, and hotel equipment.
- Inspect building systems and identify maintenance needs before they become operational issues.
- Maintain accurate records of completed preventive maintenance tasks.
- Respond promptly and professionally to guest maintenance requests.
- Coordinate with Housekeeping and Front Office to prioritize room readiness.
- Assist with room inspections and address maintenance deficiencies as needed.
- Support hotel operations by assisting with projects, equipment moves, and other maintenance-related tasks.
- Follow all company safety policies, OSHA guidelines, and applicable building codes.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Report safety hazards, equipment failures, and maintenance concerns promptly.
- Assist with emergency procedures and respond to maintenance-related emergencies as required.
- Work collaboratively with all hotel departments to support daily operations.
- Maintain positive working relationships with coworkers, vendors, and contractors.
- Participate in training and meetings as required.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One (1) year of maintenance, facilities, or hotel engineering experience preferred.
- Basic working knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical systems, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and general building maintenance.
- Ability to operate hand and power tools safely.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- A flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as business demands require.
Physical Requirements
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Frequently bend, kneel, crouch, climb ladders, and reach overhead.
- Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
