Position Overview
Reliance One, Inc. is seeking an Engineer to support production preparation and new model launches for EV battery manufacturing equipment. This role will lead equipment procurement, validation, installation, pre-production trials, and launch activities while collaborating with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead procurement, validation, installation, pre-production trials, and launch of EV battery manufacturing equipment.
- Create and maintain detailed project schedules and budget tracking for assigned projects.
- Develop battery manufacturing process plans and machine specifications using lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
- Apply electrical, mechanical, and civil engineering knowledge to provide design criteria and technical feedback.
- Create clear documentation and technical drawings for project scope, execution plans, progress updates, and issue tracking.
- Collaborate across functional, company, and international teams to drive project execution.
- Monitor equipment installation activities, identify field issues, and coordinate countermeasures with contractors and machine builders.
- Promote a strong safety culture by following construction safety requirements and correcting unsafe conditions immediately.
- Lead pre-production and mass production trials to ensure equipment quality and performance requirements are achieved.
- Mentor team members and contribute to technical standards and work instructions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of engineering experience.
- 3+ years of experience with production preparation of battery, electronics, or chemical manufacturing equipment, including procurement, validation, installation, trials, and launch activities.
- 3+ years of experience leading capital projects, including scheduling, budget control, and KPI reporting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25%.
- Ability to work weekends and shutdown periods, including July and December.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience creating process plans and machine specifications using lean manufacturing principles.
- Experience with AutoCAD, CATIA, Creo, or similar CAD software.
- Advanced engineering degree beyond a Bachelor’s degree.
- Experience with Production Engineering.
- Experience leading structured manufacturing equipment trials.
- Experience with battery manufacturing processes, industrial controls, PLC programming, MES systems, Mitsubishi or Omron PLCs, and troubleshooting manufacturing systems.
- Japanese language ability.
