Maintenance and Repair
- Perform day-to-day general maintenance and repairs throughout the hotel, including guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house areas.
- Execute repairs and maintenance related to HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general building systems as directed.
- Respond promptly and efficiently to maintenance requests from guests and staff.
- Conduct preventive maintenance on guest room equipment and systems as scheduled and directed by the Director or Assistant Director of Engineering.
- Identify and report any major maintenance issues, safety hazards, or damaged items to the leadership team.
- Utilize maintenance tracking systems (e.g., HotSos) to document work performed and report issues.
Operational Support
- Adhere to all health, safety, and sanitation regulations, including OSHA standards and Lockout/Tagout procedures, particularly those related to engineering and maintenance.
- Operate and maintain cleaning equipment safely and effectively.
- Handle guest requests and inquiries promptly and courteously.
- Handle chemicals and cleaning agents according to safety guidelines when applicable to maintenance tasks.
- Absorb and assist with the setup and breakdown of equipment for meetings and social gatherings as needed.
Guest Interaction & Satisfaction
- Professionally interact with guests when performing maintenance repairs or system troubleshooting in occupied rooms.
- Communicate effectively with guests regarding the status of repairs and expected completion times.
- Ensure guest satisfaction by minimizing disruption and leaving guest rooms in excellent condition after completing work.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in a maintenance or engineering role, preferably within a hotel or hospitality environment, is a plus.
- HVAC License and Local Fire Safety Director (LFSD) certificate are preferred.
- Basic knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general building maintenance.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality work.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently, as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic communication skills to interact with guests and team members.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, pull, push, bend, stoop, and lift for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Manual dexterity to operate tools and equipment.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including overnights, weekends and holidays, as needed.
