About the Role

Independently performs technical tasks and contributes to the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of Exelon's utility infrastructure, including electric or gas distribution, transmission, substations, and related systems. This role involves performing engineering studies, technical calculations, specifications, permitting, work packages, and performance evaluations to ensure system safety, reliability, and compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze electric, gas, and/or communications system performance and outage data.
  • Identify and implement improvements in safety, reliability, and grid performance.
  • Support cost estimation, budgeting, and integrated system planning.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, construction, and external partners.
  • Conduct field inspections and support project execution.
  • Perform engineering assignments with independent discretion under the guidance of an experienced engineer (e.g., collect data, perform complex analysis, interpret results, draw conclusions, and present recommendations to management).
  • Perform engineering tasks associated with large or multiple small projects (e.g., analyze power flows, conduct complex engineering tests, and interpret ambiguous results).
  • Direct engineering tasks for large or multiple small projects (e.g., verify and validate studies, blueprints, or designs against accepted engineering principles and practices).
  • Design high-voltage transmission and distribution circuits to meet all engineering standards and criteria.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of current technical systems and processes.
  • Participate on teams to improve technical systems and processes.
  • Provide technical assistance to senior engineers, managers, and others.
  • Apply technical knowledge to promote a safe work environment and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • May be required to work extended hours during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
  • 2 - 4 years of professional engineering experience.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Knowledge of engineering designs, principles, and practices.
  • General knowledge of regulations, guides, standards, codes, methods, and practices relevant to the discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate degree or graduate-level work in Engineering, Business Administration, or Project Management.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certification.
  • Strong written and oral communication/presentation skills, including report generation and technical writing.
  • Interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with peers and managers.
  • Consulting and needs assessment skills.
  • Working knowledge of analysis software packages such as CYMDIST, PSS\E, Python, PLS-CAD, Pole Foreman, Power BI, or similar.

Pay

Annual salary range: $84,800.00 – $116,600.00, based on skills, qualifications, experience, and other factors.

Annual bonus for eligible positions: 10%.
