About the role

The Engineer (Packaging) will primarily be responsible for day-to-day activities within the engineering department to support Almac Pharma Services commercial packaging operations.

Responsibilities

  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) for various packaging equipment including but not limited to bottle filling, blister card packaging, vial & ampoule labelling, kit assembly and pouching operations.
  • Responsible for identifying and mitigating packaging issues for existing business through strong engineering and process improvement methods as well as supporting packaging processes for new business.
  • Responsible for completion of the planned preventative maintenance program for all the pharmaceutical packaging equipment including electronic reading and verification systems.
  • Responsible for providing excellent maintenance to minimize production downtime and optimize machine utilization.

Qualifications

Required Experience / Education:

  • Technical or Trade School Degree.
  • 2-5 years of engineering maintenance experience in the Pharmaceutical, Medical Device, Biotech or Food industries.
  • Understanding of process control systems including instrument loops, PLC programming, sensors etc. and their functional operation on automated production lines which include vision and verification systems.
  • Proven ability to trouble shoot and repair both major and minor pieces of packaging equipment using problem solving techniques.
  • Proven working knowledge and troubleshooting of electro-pneumatics and hydraulics.
  • Proven ability to work effectively on own initiative and within the boundaries of GMP and SOP's.
  • Hands-on experience with a combination of process, controls, and equipment engineering is required.

Preferred Experience / Education:

  • A Bachelor's in Engineering.
  • Experience with pharmaceutical packaging equipment including but not limited to bottle filling, blister card packaging, vial & ampoule labelling, kit assembly and pouching operations.
  • Electrical wiring and controls experience.
  • Pneumatics and hydraulics experience.
  • Vision inspection system experience.
  • Blister forming experience.
  • Bottle filling experience.
  • PLC Programming and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, controls.
