Engineer Apprentice
What this job involves
As an Engineer Apprentice at JLL, you'll develop foundational skills in building maintenance and facilities operations while contributing to the daily upkeep of commercial properties. This hands-on role involves performing general building maintenance tasks, minor repairs, and supporting the engineering team with various projects under close supervision.
- Perform general building maintenance and minor repair work under the supervision of experienced engineers and technicians
- Support project work by loading, unloading, and moving materials, running errands, and assisting with various maintenance activities as assigned
- Replace and repair door hardware, locks, and keys throughout the property
- Complete interior and exterior painting tasks including surface preparation on wood, metal, and drywall, and minor repair work on these materials
- Replace light bulbs, lamps, and ballasts while cleaning fixtures to maintain proper lighting throughout the building
- Assist with furniture moves and modular system breakdown and setup as needed for building tenants
- Respond quickly to emergency situations and customer service requests while maintaining a professional appearance and adhering to safety protocols

Required qualifications
- A High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or active participation in an apprentice program or trade school
- Mechanically inclined with aptitude for hands-on building maintenance work
- Ability to stoop, stand, climb, and frequently lift a minimum of 50 lbs. of equipment including pumps, tools, and ladders
- Strong communication skills with ability to speak clearly and understand written and oral information
- Willingness to comply with all safety training requirements, applicable codes, regulations, and JLL uniform dress code
- Ability to use technology such as smartphones, tablets, computers, and web-based applications
- Flexibility to move between departments, floors, and properties to facilitate work
Preferred qualifications
- 1+ year of related experience in a commercial property setting
- Experience with various paint types and applications, including matching paint to proper surfaces
- Familiarity with reading printed materials, drawings, and schematics
- Previous exposure to building automation systems or maintenance management software
- Demonstrated initiative and ability to handle multiple tasks with a sense of urgency
