Job Duties
- Provide engineering leadership and supervision for maintenance staff and activities within the District.
- Affords assistance with material management, equipment, and contract budget oversight to ensure maintenance activities are performed in accordance with DOTD policies, procedures, and performance expectations.
- Oversees the scoping, administration, and quality assurance of maintenance contracts, including mowing, litter removal, and roadside assistance.
- Implements and supervises the Maintenance Quality Assurance (MQA) program by collecting data, monitoring performance measures, and ensuring policy compliance.
- Enforces LADOTD standards, safety regulations, and traffic control protocols for all roadway and bridge maintenance activities.
- Facilitates the District’s response to emergency issues like storm damage, road hazards, or bridge failures to ensure public safety.
Qualifications
- Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice professional engineering plus one of the following:
- Three years of licensed engineering experience;
- Seven years of professional engineering experience.
- Experience Substitutions:
- A master's degree in engineering will substitute for one year of professional engineering experience.
- A doctorate degree in engineering will substitute for two years of professional engineering experience.
- Notes:
- Engineering experience gained while licensed as a professional engineer will be accepted as licensed engineering experience.
- Engineering experience gained after earning an ABET-accredited degree and prior to earning a professional engineer's license (e.g., as an engineer intern applicant, engineer intern, or equivalent) will be accepted as professional level engineering experience.
- Applications will be accepted from persons licensed to practice professional engineering in states other than Louisiana.
- Licensing Requirements:
- Must have a current Louisiana Professional Engineering License.
