About the role
This benchmark is intended to be used by companies that have generic classifications engaged in research and/or product development encompassing primarily one or more of the following engineering disciplines: electronics, electrical, mechanical, and/or chemical. The position is in the O49 Facility Program Management Office. Selected candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Leading shipbuilding teams and Facilities Value Streams in defining project goals and requirements.
- Creating documents that articulate these goals and requirements and serve as the basis of design for the projects.
- Guiding the project team in defining the project delivery process best suited for a particular project and ensure compliance with best industry practices in the consultant and constructor selection process.
- Administering conceptual design and estimation efforts through the use of specialized consultants.
- Monitoring and reviewing design documents for compliance with project goals and requirements.
Responsibilities
The candidate should possess project management, systems engineering, organizational and interpersonal skills and be familiar with requirements management, configuration management, and risk management principles. Effective communication and customer relation skills is required with extensive experience in creating documents that clearly and creatively convey concepts, expectations, schedules, and serve as the foundation for coordinating teams in project execution.
Requirements
Must Have:
- Bachelor's Degree and 9 years of relevant exempt experience;
- Master’s Degree and 7 years of relevant professional experience;
- Ph.D. and 4 years of experience.
Nice to Have
Experience in the project development process - from initial concept through conceptual design, design development, and working drawing development. Familiarity with submarine and/or aircraft carrier construction, overhaul, fleet support and/or manufacturing. Professional Engineering License - VA
