Engineer 3 - Operational Excellence

About the role

As an Operational Excellence Site Engineer at Terumo Blood and Cell Technologies, you will facilitate and coordinate continuous improvement initiatives at the site level, reporting to the OpEX Site Lead. This role drives operational efficiency, implements best practices, and fosters a culture of continuous improvement by collaborating with cross-functional teams to create, revise, and monitor processes aligned with the global OpEx strategy.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with department heads and cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for operational improvement.
• Coordinate the implementation of Lean Six Sigma projects to optimize processes and enhance efficiency.
• Foster a culture of Operational Excellence by providing training and standardizing procedures, including Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Agile, and other methodologies.
• Develop strategies, systems, and tools to drive cost reduction, customer service, and associate satisfaction to world-class levels.
• Analyze operational data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Prepare regular reports on the progress and impact of operational excellence initiatives.
• Lead and facilitate cross-functional improvement projects, ensuring adherence to timelines and objectives.
• Collaborate with project teams to define project scopes, goals, and deliverables.
• Implement change management strategies to ensure successful adoption of new processes and methodologies.
• Work closely with teams to address challenges and obstacles related to change initiatives.
• Identify areas of improvement to deliver robust and cost-effective end-to-end processes through continuous improvement initiatives.
• Provide best practices to other global manufacturing sites to share and learn within the network.
• Serve as a local subject matter expert to ensure visibility of local strategies and help standardize work across the global organization.
• May work with manufacturing and other functional groups on manufacturing and regulatory compliance issues.
• May involve limited travel to other manufacturing plants.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.
• Training or certifications in Lean, Six Sigma, or other Continuous Improvement methodologies preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a process, industrial, or manufacturing engineer, or similar role.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a GMP and medical devices environment.
• Knowledge of continuous improvement and problem-solving methodologies.
• Experience participating in or leading OpEx efforts to drive continuous improvements.

Physical Requirements

• General labor environment requirements include use of personal protective equipment, reading, speaking, hearing, walking, bending, standing, stretching/reaching, hand/finger dexterity.
• Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds or transporting up to 500 pounds via carts or mechanized equipment.

Pay

Target pay range: $103,800.00 to $129,700.00 (salary determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and market alignment). Target bonus on base: 7.0%.
