Responsibilities

  • Makes repairs to hotel air conditioning system: changes filters, cleans coils, replaces motors.
  • Performs preventive maintenance on all equipment (boilers, chillers, HVAC, electrical, etc.).
  • Takes required readings on equipment.
  • Tests cooling tower and records readings.
  • Replaces and programs televisions as needed.
  • Replaces and repairs light switches, receptacles, light bulbs and fixtures.
  • Performs furniture repair.
  • Replaces and repairs pumps.
  • Performs plumbing repairs (clogged drains, copper pipe, change washers, change handles, drain fittings, etc.).
  • Understands and reads blueprints and wiring diagrams. Traces and repairs all types of water lines.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs kitchen equipment.
  • Maintains repair and preventive maintenance records.
  • Performs and maintains work to local, state and federal codes.
  • Tests, cleans and repairs swimming pools and spas.
  • Paints designated areas.
  • Repairs and finishes sheet rock.
  • Repairs and programs hotel electronic lock system.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent and/or experience in a hotel or a related field required.
  • At least one year of progressive experience in a hotel or related field preferred.
  • Trade school and/or college course work in related field helpful.
  • Flexible and long hours sometimes required.
  • Heavy work - Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently and/or in excess of 20 pounds.
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and written, with all levels of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.
  • Able to listen to, understand, and clarify concerns raised by employees and guests.
  • Able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
  • Able to handle problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary.
  • Able to understand and apply complex information, data, etc. from various sources to meet appropriate objectives.
  • Able to cross-train in other hotel-related areas.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Able to show initiative, including anticipating guest or operational needs.
