Role Overview
We are seeking an Engineer I to support the design, planning, and construction of electric power infrastructure. This entry-level engineering role is ideal for recent graduates or professionals with up to five years of experience who are looking to build a career in utility engineering. The Engineer I will apply engineering principles, industry standards, and design software to develop construction-ready solutions that support the safe and reliable delivery of electric service.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of electric power systems.
- Develop engineering designs, construction packages, specifications, and supporting documentation.
- Prepare project cost estimates and material requirements.
- Evaluate design alternatives and recommend practical solutions.
- Provide oversight and quality reviews of contractor-developed designs, estimates, and construction packages.
- Support the development and maintenance of engineering standards, specifications, and design criteria.
- Utilize engineering and design software applications to complete project assignments.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, contractors, vendors, and field personnel to ensure successful project execution.
- Provide engineering support during construction and maintenance activities.
- Promote and maintain a strong safety culture by ensuring safety remains the top priority in all work activities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university.
- 0–5 years of relevant engineering experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Basic knowledge of engineering principles, practices, and design methodologies.
- Ability to learn and apply engineering software and technical tools.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and a commitment to continuous learning.
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to utility, electrical, power systems, or infrastructure-related projects.
- Familiarity with engineering design software and construction documentation processes.
- Understanding of applicable industry standards and engineering best practices.
