About the role
The Engine Field Technician II (R) is a rotational position that typically follows a 14-day work cycle, alternating between working shifts and rest periods. This role requires travel to and lodging at the assigned work location for the duration of each 14-day period.
Responsibilities
- Complete assigned jobs and tasks within flat rate times and re-do metrics.
- Work safely and adhere to all WCAT safety policies and procedures.
- Accurately and timely complete related paperwork and access databases required for job completion (work order, parts order, JSA, DBS, SIMS, SIS web, STW).
- Follow contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations.
- Remove and install parts, disassemble and assemble components, clean and inspect assemblies with minimal supervision.
- Understand and apply CAT reusability guidelines.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot problems, give recommendations for repairs, and make all critical engine repairs and adjustments.
- Test and verify correct operation of all repairs and adjustments.
- Apply general failure analysis and procedures to determine proper diagnosis.
- Complete accurate and timely service reports and timecards daily.
- Perform engine and component rebuild with limited supervision.
- Use intuition and experience to complement data; Design work flows and procedures.
Requirements
- Skills and experience meeting or exceeding the basic requirements of the Engine Field Tech I position.
- CAT product knowledge of gas, diesel, electrical, electronic, and mechanical components.
- Proficient use of basic hand tools, air tools, precision measuring tools and instruments, laptops, diagnostic software, and cranes and rigging equipment.
- Able to provide accurate quotes.
- Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from various groups.
- Able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- General computer literacy.
- Valid Driver's license and clean driving record.
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Successfully complete Work Steps assessment.
- Flexibility to work overtime as needed, as well as to fulfill the scheduling structure of a rotational position.
Qualifications
- Five to eight years of related experience and/or training (or acceptable combination of these requirements).
