About the role

Kidde Global Solutions (KGS) is seeking a second shift Lab Test Engineer to join our team. This role is responsible for ensuring the quality and compliance of smoke and carbon monoxide detection products. Key responsibilities include creating test strategies, reviewing and validating agency and engineering design requirements, documenting test cases, assisting with complex route cause analysis, and interacting with key customers.

Responsibilities

  • Create complex test strategies for product validation tests to ensure product compliance with industry regulations for life safety products.
  • Review, test, and validate agency & engineering design requirements for each product to ensure compliance with agency standards.
  • Document product requirements leading to developing individual test cases in an organized manner for global lab organizations to track and monitor test progression.
  • Auxiliary in planning work breakdowns for assigned engineering technicians to accelerate product testing schedules to meet critical business milestones.
  • Work with cross-functional engineering teams to assist in complex route cause analysis to create reliable and industry leading life safety products.
  • Understand how to read/interpret electrical and mechanical schematics to help understand test requirements.
  • Interact with key critical customers to provide technical support, as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years’ experience working as a lab/test engineer with consumer electronics.
  • 3+ years of experience using digital and analog testing equipment such as multimeters and oscilloscopes.
  • Excellent self-task management/prioritization and documentation skills in a R&D or lab environment.
  • Understands how to read and interpret schematics, installation sheets, and bill of materials.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills with little to no supervision.
  • Experience working on failure probability models and risk mitigation plans.
  • Interpersonal skills to work with several departments, including engineering, key project stakeholders and production.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with others in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with UL standards.
  • MATLAB / Minitab data analysis experience.
  • Experience in Jira or other similar tools.
  • Must be able to work both independently, as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to adapt to change.

Qualifications

  • Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree, 3+ years’ experience working as a lab/test engineer with consumer electronics, 3+ years of experience using digital and analog testing equipment such as multimeters and oscilloscopes.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, or a related field, excellent self-task management/prioritization and documentation skills in a R&D or lab environment, understands how to read and interpret schematics, installation sheets, and bill of materials, demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills with little to no supervision, experience working on failure probability models and risk mitigation plans, interpersonal skills to work with several departments, including engineering, key project stakeholders and production, familiarity with UL standards, MATLAB / Minitab data analysis experience, experience in Jira or other similar tools, must be able to work both independently, as well as part of a team, ability to adapt to change.

  • Technical skills to support product validation within Global Lab organization.

This is a second shift role with hours 3:00 PM – 12:00 AM EST.
