Eng Manager
Responsibilities
- Lead multiple product engineering teams across product areas
- Coach Leads on technical direction, execution, communication, and team development
- Hire engineers and help each person improve through clear expectations and regular feedback
- Work with Product and business leaders to set directions and team priorities
- Define technical strategies and roadmaps
- Define and improve engineering management practices as the organization grows
Requirements
- You have experience managing multiple engineering teams, leading through experienced technical leads or other managers
- You truly care about building teams, and helping each person on the team grow their career and impact
- You have made difficult performance and organizational decisions with care and clarity
- You have partnered closely with Product and with stakeholders outside engineering to deliver business outcomes
- You have worked in a domain with complex requirements, multiple stakeholders, or significant operational constraints
- You were a staff-level (or comparably senior) engineer before moving into management, and you can still go deep on architecture and tradeoffs with senior engineers
- You communicate cogently
- You know how to add structure without adding process for its own sake
