About the role
This is an 11-months contract assignment (W-2) based in Juno Beach, FL. You will involve yourself with renewable energy battery augmentation projects, from conception through execution. You will have exposure to teams across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Detail design engineering of electrical, structural and civil aspects of utility-scale energy storage augmentation projects
- Manage multiple concurrent high-volume battery augmentation projects from conception through execution, working with external Engineers of Record, Project Managers and permitting, procurement, interconnection and construction teams
- Support projects from conception through execution, working with early-stage and construction project managers
- Influence project teams in the engineering aspects of the technical work, including close collaboration with and oversight of external Engineers of Record
- Maintain familiarity with the progress and problems in assigned technical areas
- Influence project teams in the engineering aspects of the technical work
- Collaborate with teams for process improvement opportunities, and system integration and controls
- Identify value engineering opportunities and latest technologies prospects
Requirements
- An Subject Matter Expert in substation or utility scale energy storage design and project management, with established expertise in the following areas:
- Power electronics
- Battery storage system design
- Substation design
- Generation tie design
- Design and operation of large-scale power generation or processing plants involving adherence to regulatory requirements while maximizing the performance and reliability of technically complex systems
- Hands-on experience of construction methods, including foundations, trenching, electrical terminations and testing, and best safety practices
- Knowledge of technologies in energy storage including varying battery chemistries, power conversion units and DC-DC converters
- Lithium-ion battery storage safety: Familiarity with UL1973, UL9540, UL9540A, NFPA 855, NFPA 70E, NEC, applicable IFC/IBC sections
- Familiarity with interconnection studies and GIA material modification adjustment (MMA) processes, in WECC and CAISO
- Construction permitting and contracting experience
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical/Mechanical engineering or related field from an ABET accredited program
- 11+ years of proven engineering experience
Skills
- Subject Matter Expert in substation or utility scale energy storage design and project management
- Expertise in power electronics, battery storage system design, substation design, generation tie design
- Experience in construction methods, including foundations, trenching, electrical terminations and testing, and best safety practices
- Knowledge of lithium-ion battery storage safety standards and regulations
- Familiarity with interconnection studies and GIA material modification adjustment (MMA) processes
- Construction permitting and contracting experience

Pay
The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $55.00/hr to $60.00/hr.
Schedule
Full-time, 40 hours per week.
