Energy Project Engineer - P&I

About the role
The Energy Project Engineer is responsible for all technical aspects of assigned projects, including design, engineering cost and schedule, customer interface, and internal coordination. This role ensures the delivery of engineering packages compliant with client contracts and AAF International standards. While others provide handover data and estimates, the Project Engineer holds ultimate responsibility for producing all engineering deliverables accurately and on time.
Responsibilities
- Review customer and internal contract specifications to deliver compliant engineering packages.
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact between the customer and AAF for assigned projects.
- Maintain engineering deliverable schedules (internal and external) and advise the project manager of risks or changes.
- Monitor total engineering cost (hours and expenses vs. as-sold estimates) and report risks or opportunities to the project manager.
- Technically review client change requests and advise the project manager of impacts to engineering and scope; discuss with the client as needed.
- Direct internal and external engineering resources to ensure timely and accurate deliverables, collaborating with engineering management to resolve issues.
- Produce, review, and approve all engineering deliverables for assigned projects.
- Support the sales and applications team with bid data and development.
- Provide on-site advisory support at supplier and customer locations as necessary.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical preferred; Civil, Structural, Chemical, or equivalent experience accepted).
- Experience in a technical industry, particularly involving metal fabrication, machining, or manufacturing.
- Valid passport; international travel may be required.
- Experience reviewing and applying customer specifications, internal standards, and industry regulations.
- Field experience in a manufacturing environment (e.g., inspection, troubleshooting, expediting).
- Proficiency in interpreting 2D fabrication drawings, 3D models, and verifying equipment design based on environmental and process conditions.
- Ability to communicate technical details effectively through drawings, models, manuals, and installation instructions.
