About the role
Work at the intersection of energy markets, analytics, and strategy to support natural gas forecasting, energy market analysis, and portfolio optimization across utility operations.
Responsibilities
- Analyze natural gas supply, demand forecasting, and portfolio performance
- Build and maintain energy forecasting models (load, weather, demand trends)
- Support energy trading strategy and daily market analysis
- Evaluate gas supply contracts, pipeline capacity, storage, and pricing indices
- Develop data-driven insights to optimize the gas portfolio
- Partner cross-functionally with engineering, business planning, and operations
- Contribute to Integrated Resource Planning (IRP) and long-term energy strategy
Requirements
- Multiple openings – candidates will be aligned to Level I, II, or Senior based on experience
- Clear growth path from analyst → strategist → senior leader
Qualifications
- Level I – Energy Analyst (Entry Level): 1+ year experience in data analysis, modeling, or forecasting; Bachelor’s in Economics, Engineering, Math, Statistics, or related; Skills in Excel (pivot tables, lookups), data analysis, and reporting; Nice to have: SQL, VBA, or statistical modeling exposure
- Level II – Energy Portfolio Analyst: 3+ years in energy analytics, forecasting, or modeling; Strong experience with Excel modeling, VBA, or SQL; Knowledge of natural gas markets, pricing indices, or regulatory environment; Nice to have: MATLAB, hydraulic modeling, or advanced database experience
- Senior Energy Portfolio Analyst: 5+ years in natural gas analytics, energy markets, or portfolio strategy; Deep expertise in forecasting, modeling, and energy market analysis; Strong leadership, project ownership, and stakeholder alignment skills; Nice to have: Advanced analytics tools, VBA, MATLAB, or system modeling expertise
