About the role
PSCo Regulatory is looking for an intern that can support our energy policy work. Ideally, the candidate would be skilled in conducting independent research, summarizing and synthesizing information for internal and external audiences, and the ability to manage small scale projects.
Responsibilities
- Evaluation of other state policies regarding resource adequacy, large customer load, generation procurement, transmission and distribution development, and customer programming
- Development of research reports for internal and external audiences
- Administrative support on projects related to energy policy, new infrastructure development, and customer programming
Requirements
- Current student, Sophomore or higher (as of Fall 2027)
- Enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in Environmental policy, political science, law, public relations, government relations
- Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week) / part time during the school year (up to 20 hours a week) and commuting to the designated work location in-person, per our hybrid work policy
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Microsoft CoPilot or other AI tools
- Demonstrated ability to write research reports or summarize complex information into briefs
- Ability to conduct independent research on various topics
- Ability to use Microsoft Office applications, Adobe Acrobat
Pay
$19.29 to $24.50 per hour

This position is for a May 31, 2027 start date. This position may have the possibility to extend beyond the internship's initial term based on the candidate's successful performance and Xcel Energy's business needs.
