About the role

We are seeking a motivated, analytical, and resourceful Energy Market Intern to join our Economic Analysis team. In this role, you will help shape ENGIE’s long-term market outlook by supporting the development of internal market fundamentals, comparing them against leading market consultants, and contributing to revenue projections and LCOE calculations for ENGIE’s operating and pipeline assets across North America.

Responsibilities

  • Support development of ENGIE’s internal view on market pricing across North American markets.
  • Compare ENGIE assumptions and outputs with various external consultant forecasts to highlight differences and drivers.
  • Collect, organize, and maintain market inputs—including fuel prices, load forecasts, capacity trends, policy drivers, and technology outlooks. Track changes over time and benchmark consultant inputs and outputs against ENGIE’s internal datasets.
  • Assist in developing long-term revenue trajectories for ENGIE’s operating and development-stage assets across multiple ISOs. Contribute to streamlining and automating revenue compilation processes.
  • Conduct research on industry trends, policy developments, and market fundamentals. Analyze consultant reports and market data, identify emerging patterns, and prepare recurring insights for internal stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2nd year undergraduate or graduate degree in Economics, Finance, Business, Engineering, Science, or related field with data analytics background with at least a current GPA of 2.8 or higher.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Familiarity with Python, VBA, or Power BI is a plus.
  • Business acumen with an ability to prepare quantitative analysis.
  • Good interpersonal skills, with exceptional organization, prioritization, and time management skills, with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and be a self-starter.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally.

Schedule

The internship work term will be from September 7, 2026, to December 31, 2026, with the ability to work a minimum of 20 hours per week, up to 40 hours per week for the Fall/Winter Intern session.

This role is eligible for our hybrid in-office work policy in the ENGIE Houston, TX or Chicago, IL office and is not eligible for remote work.

Interns must be enrolled in good standing at the commencement of the intern semester.

Pay

Hourly Range: $22.50 - $25.50 USD hourly. This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate. Actual offered salary may depend on geography, experience, industry knowledge, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.
