The Designer V (DT V) position is the fifth level in the Designer career track at KCI Technologies, Inc. This track is tasked with providing designs for utility systems including overhead and underground circuits for joint use, lighting, and commercial, industrial, and residential development, as well as gas and generation systems. This role involves handling assigned design projects, permit documentation, and providing support to others for assigned projects with independence. The DT V will directly communicate with clients/customers and construction crews to progress their projects. This position primarily involves working in an office environment, with an expectation of significant field work, which may include exposure to inclement weather conditions such as extreme heat/cold, high humidity, rain, snow, and icy conditions.
- Independently performing field data collection and project specific inspections for assigned projects, accurately and efficiently.
- Producing high-quality computer-aided design drawings and a list of materials needed for the construction of assigned projects.
- Providing mentorship, guidance, and training to peers and newer designers for assigned projects.
- Ensuring all necessary communications are documented on projects designed as required by training.
- Producing permitting documentation, as needed, independently.
- Communicating with clients and leading site meetings.
Qualifications
- A High School Diploma or equivalent, and eight years relevant work experience, or an Associate’s Degree and five years of distribution design-related work experience.
- A valid driver’s license required.
